These are mostly in the Negril Area
list and info taken from smilz4milz bio, GREAT research!

Welcome! Here are some places of interest that will be nearby to our resort. The list includes things for everybody's interests! We want to get you all the info to better experience everything Jamaica offer! Your hotel can arrange anything for you! Just ask, Mon!

A Little Jamaican History
The "newest" resort destination on the west coast was discovered in the 1700s by rowdy pirates. In the 1960s and 1970s hippies discovered Negril and forever left their mark. Hippies helped to create its CAREFREE, UNHURRIED atmosphere where FRIENDSHIPS spring up between visitor and locale. Now a spot so enamored with nature's bounty, no building stands taller than the tallest palm tree.
Jamaica is now an independent country, completely self-governed since 1962 when the island ceased to be a British colony. The national motto, "Out of Many, One People" reflects Jamaica's rich heritage. Here, anything goes and everyone’s welcome!

For Those in a Rush-Take TimAir!

Picture
Just can't wait to get to Negril? Timair can charter you from Montego Bay to Negril in about 15 minutes! Pricing is approx. $110 per person - 1 way. Nanda with Beach Bum Vacation can even arrange transport for you if you like.

TimAir is Jimmy Buffet's choice of transport in Jamaica! :-)

YS Falls

Located 50 miles east of Negril. This is a spectacular 7 falls waterfall surrounded by lush tropical forest. On your way up the falls, you'll find numerous pools where one can swim or plunge into the water from rope swings that hang in the trees.

You have the option of walking up a stairway that runs alongside the falls, or to climb up the rocks of the falls themselves. There is also a "canopy tour" for those for who feel adventurous and want a real bird's-eye view!

As of October 2009, the zipline fee at YS Falls was $20. The ziplines are not the Chukka Tour ziplines near Ocho Rios. These are small, but fun.

The spring fed garden pool, located at the base of the falls, gleams invitingly for you to take a step into its rejuvenating waters.

Black River Tour

Picture
Picture

The river get's its name from the darkness of the river bed that has over the years been lined with thick layers of decomposing vegetation. However, the actual water is crystal clear!

Some crocodiles are "trained" to come up to the tour boat and let you shake their "hand" or even give them a little rub!!!

Floyd's Pelican Bar

The most unusual restaurant and bar in the Caribbean, constructed by Floyd Forbes from a vision he had in a dream. It’s built on stilts about a mile off the coast of Treasure Beach in the Caribbean Sea.

In this aqua tree house, enjoy ice cold Red Stripes and fresh seafood (so fresh that it is recommended that you call ahead so they can get their fishing poles out!). Just relax or take a swim and collect seashells while waiting for your lunch to be prepared.

Prices are very, very reasonable with lobster costing $12US and fish $9US. The food is great and the drinks are plentiful!

This trip can easily be combined with the Black River Safari trip (if you book a tour to Black River, it is recommended that you hire a taxi driver so you can experience the Bar with no restrictions). Or if you call Floyd he'll have Beed or Captain Dennis pick you up from the beach to bring you to his little piece of paradise. The boat ride costs about $9-$10 per person.

Peter Tosh Memorial Garden (1944 -1987)

Picture
An original "Wailer" and close friend to Bob Marley, Peter Tosh lays at rest at a memorial which can be found on the way to Black River. His reggae-filled guitar licks and lyrics infused with political and social messages drew the attention of other great artists such as Mick Jagger. Peter is considered a trailblazer for the Rastafari movement and his tragic death was that of greed having been shot by thieves.

(As a note the late, GREAT Bob Marley lays at rest in 9 Mile, St. Ann Parish Jamaica.) I'm sure you're wondering about the Bob Marley Tour, those take place in Kingston which is quite a distance from Negril. :-(

Rick's Cafe

Atop the west-end cliffs, a must when in Negril. A great experience not to be missed!

You can use US currency at Rick's, but will be given your change back in Jamaican currency.

While you sip on island cocktails or enjoy a bite to eat, watch the professional divers soar into the turquoise water below.

If you feel daring, feel free to jump from the cliffs at Rick's...it's a bit closer to the water.

**Word of warning: Tripadvisor travelers gave this place HORRIBLE reviews--High-priced food and the Divers are BEGGARS for tips...overall people listed this as neat, but regret spending the time to go here**

Located on the beach on Norman Manley Boulevard, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville claims the title of Negril's hippest party bar.

Bamboo Raft Ride

Enjoy a romantic river ride on bamboo rafts in a more intimate, unspoiled surrounding compared to the usual commercialized rafting. Negril Crafts Market

Picture
Picture
The market is a collection of rickety buildings, but the atmosphere is fun and there are some good crafts to be found if you persevere. Go with the flow, put a smile on your face, and enjoy the experience in good humor.

Craft vendors can also be found while strolling the beach.

Bargaining is very much a part of the game. And, if you're good, you can purchase items for about half the asked price on most goods.

(But remember this is how Jamaicans make their living...so keep that in mind when bartering).

Negril Hills Golf Club

Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the challenging multi-rise golf course while soaking-in the tranquil atmosphere.

Located just outside of Negril, the Negril Hills Golf Club is one of international golf's best kept secrets.

Booby Cay

Picture
Picture
Tours can be arranged to this small island that sits just off shore from Negril or you can kayak to the Cay (pronounced "key"). Scenes from the popular film "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" were filmed here. Booby Cay gets it's name from the booby bird, which is a type of tern that returns to the island each year to breed and lay their eggs in the once safe environment of the off-shore sanctuary.

Get away to Booby Cay for an Island Picnic. Enjoy a fresh-caught LOBSTER lunch and snorkel along the reefs of the island. An open bar with beer, coctails, and soft drinks are offered onboard the tour boat.

(The Cay is so close to Sandals Negril, little charter boats to the cay are plentiful.)

Appleton Estate

Take a journey through time to the soul of the finest rums in the world.

The Appleton Estate has been blending rums since 1749 and the Rum Distillery is sited beside the Black River in one of the most beautiful valleys in Jamaica.

You can savor these award-winning rums after you tour the distillery and learn the details of the distilling process from sugarcane, molasses, sugar, to wine and rum.

Mayfield Falls

Picture
Only about 45 minutes from Negril, Mayfield Falls has become a popular place for what the locals refer to as "Falls Walking". Walking straight up the rocks within the falls, you'll find yourself in a place that seems to have been forgotten by time itself! Along the way you'll discover a variety of large and small pools in which one can swim or just hang out and have a good time.

The setting for this exciting adventure is an old virgin rainforest, which surprisingly features an open air, bamboo restaurant and bar at the base off the falls

Negril Lighthouse

Built before the turn of the last century, the Negril Lighthouse has served the people of Jamaica since 1895. The Lighthouse, located on the West End, past Rick's Cafe, is a 66 foot tall structure powered by solar energy.

Enjoy a birds-eye view by climbing the 103 steps to the tower of the lighthouse (not recommended for those scared of heights). The Negril landmark still guides ships safely around Jamaica's western edge. Admission is free, but the caretaker (Wilson Johnson) kindly accepts tips for his guided services
